DLGuard v2.4.2 released

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

DLGuard 2.4.2 is now publicly released!

There’s been some changes in Paypal, Clickbank, and also some general tweaks to make sure everything is running smoothly.

New Features in 2.4.2:

  • Sales made via Paypal’s E-Checks are withheld until the e-check is cleared or DLGuard admin marks them as cleared
  • Advanced Paypal users can now add extra Paypal URL variables to their payment link to further customise the Paypal checkout screen
  • ClickBank validation “secret key” is now NOT case sensitive as the ClickBank admin input forces keys to uppercase
  • ClickBank instructions have been updated to include much more detail on setting up a CB product in DLGuard
  • Query script now allows customers of multiple products to be added (added in v2.4.1)

Thank you everyone for your ongoing support that is vital to help DLGuard stay way ahead of the competition.

The ClickBank Crack Exposed

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

There’s been a bit of buzz this morning about a site “revealing a loophole in ClickBank security”. I’ve put that all in quotes because it’s not really a loophole in Clickbank’s security, it’s a simple thing that is easy to overlook.

When you set up a ClickBank product and have it set to $0 for testing purposes, make sure you don’t point it to a live thankyou page. If using DLGuard, make sure the “download” product you put for downloads isn’t your real product.

This allows you to have a zero dollar product for testing without the security issues.

If you do point it to your live thankyou page for a quick “live” test, then make sure you set the amount back to the correct sale price.

It’s simple, and it’ll fix all your problems.

DLGuard v2.4 released

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

DLGuard version 2.4 has now been released.

It contains a couple of little bug fixes, as well as some handy new features. This release isn’t as big as some as it was designed to bring everyone up to the latest version. The confusion with the recent ClickBank patch (compatibility with ClickBank’s new sales page) and a number of fixes and new features being beta tested by a few groups meant that it was time to consolidate all these patches into one proper release.

The changes are as such:

NEW FEATURES:

  •  Ebay products now run custom script URL (if set)
  •  Import customers now run custom script URL
  •  Developers can now add customers to DLGuard from their own script
  •  Export customers to screen now displays links to that specific customer’s detailed information
  •  Compatible with ClickBank’s new verification system
  •  You can now set your emails to use Unix style line breaks
  •  Streamlined ClickBank purchase validation as well as better file locking for members with huge sales volumes

FIXES:

  •  Fixed error where adding products to cart removes categories selected for existing cart products
  •  ClickBank sale verification fix for new payment screen

This upgrade has been emailed to all current DLGuard members and is the version downloaded when purchasing DLGuard for the first time.

StormPay back in action?

Monday, August 7th, 2006

StormPay released an email to members today regarding the acceptance of website payments.

If one was to cast one’s mind back six months one would remember the 12 Daily Pro fiasco that involved FBI investigation. StormPay accepted payments for the 12 Daily Pro system, and was caught up in the process. StormPay ended up freezing members funds, and their website mysteriously went down for around two days before suddenly popping back up with no explanation of why they were down. It was then announced that StormPay no longer accepted website payments which meant that a lot of people had to quickly switch their payment systems over to another provider.

This morning an email was sent to StormPay members announcing that they now accept website payments. No mention was made of why the feature is now back again, or why it was removed in the first place.

Is it “business as usual” at StormPay? Is everything getting back to normal? Time will tell, but so too will it take a lot of time for people to forget the very unusual circumstances six months previous that came close to spelling the death of StormPay.

StormPay support will be once again added to DLGuard if people express interest in it.

ClickBank recurring payments?

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

ClickBank’s new order form is not only a pretty blue, but it also raised questions:

The Payment Amount listed on the order for now says “One payment of $10″ (or whatever your price happens to be).

After you pay it gives you a payment summary:

Reccuring Charges: None. This is a one-time charge.

I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch of the imagination that ClickBank is intending to add recurring billing to their payment system some time in the future.

While they have talked about this in the past, the fact that it’s now listed on the new payment pages seems to indicate that it will be sooner rather than later.

ClickBank new security code released

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

ClickBank sent me a new piece of security code this morning. The new code works like a charm with the new order form.

The patch has now been released to all DLGuard members, and added to the full installation package of DLGuard for new customers purchasing.

I believe ClickBank have been very professional during this upgrade. It was unfortunate that there was a bug with the new order form, but they implented a proactive plan to rectify it. They contacted me directly to first enquire as to whether or not there was a problem, and when there was they then sent me new code in less than 12 hours.

I continue my faith in the ClickBank system.

ClickBank Order Form Changes

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

The new ClickBank order form has been launched!

It’s a one page order form, as opposed to the original two-step order form. It’s returned to a nice blue colour, and looks very clean, well laid out, and professional. Two thumbs up, Clickbank!

There has been some technical difficulties with the launch though. They new order process isn’t compatible with their verification code they supply to “advanced users” for payment validation. Most (all?) payment security systems such as DLGuard use this code as part of their verification system.

A patch was sent out to DLGuard users within an hour of us being notified of the changes. Users of other systems will need to check their payment systems and request a fix from their software supplier.

I was personally contacted this morning by Clickbank, as the owner of DLGuard, in regard to the new changes and for this reason I do applaud the way Clickbank have handled the changes. I’m confident that Clickbank will have this worked out shortly. The glitch was unfortunate, but the way Clickbank have handled it has increased my confidence in them as a company.

I think the future is looking very bright for Clickbank.

Paypal Protects Against Chargebacks

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

It’s not yet certain whether this is a world-wide offer, or simply a Paypal Australia offer, but as of the 20th of July, if a customer raises a sales dispute with you and it’s settled in your favour then any future attempts by the customer to perform a chargeback on your sale will be rejected.

You must honour any agreements made with the customer during the dispute stage, and the dispute stage must be complete.

This is great news to help protect sellers against what basically amounts to fraudulent chargebacks. But doesn’t this take away a customers rights? No, as both parties will be able to present their arguments through Paypal’s dispute resolution centre first. It simply protects against “grudge chargebacks”.
